The trek is easy and provides the spectacular views of the Langtang (7245m), Ganesh Himal (7405m), Dorje Lhakpa (6990m) and other small mountains of Langtang Himalayan range. The warm and friendly people of helambu are mostly Buddhists. It is an ideal trip for those who have a short time and like to combine both cultural scene. You will enjoy visiting the culturally rich Tamang villages, Buddhist Gompas and the fantastic landscape with rice fields. This trek is ideal for people with less time who do not wish to travel too far from the Kathmandu Valley. Helambu is a lush region to the North of Kathmandu inhabited by Sherpas and Tamang people although the Sherpas of this region differ in their practices from their cousins in the Everest region.The trek passes through some beautiful forests and very interesting villages on route.

Itinerary

Day 01: Your arrival to Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA), you will be met by our Airport Representative, and transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel. B.B.

Day 02: Full day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley (Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath, Swayambhu, and Kathmandu durbar square). Overnight at hotel. B.B.

Day 03: Drive Kathmandu to Sundarijal and trek to Chisopani (2300m).
After 15 km drive from Kathmandu by car / van, you will reach to Sundarijal, the starting point of the trek. As you arrive Sundarijal, you can observe Shivapuri watershed and Wild life Reserve there.

From Sundarijal, the trail heads up to the concrete steps beside the pipeline which supply drinking water for the valley. Finally, we leave the pipeline from near the dam. We then reach Mulkharka, sprawling up the ridge around 1895m, which 600m above Sundarijal. There you can take some time to spend in the convenient tea shops, and to enjoy the nice view back over the Kathmandu valley. We then continue walking to Chisopani (2300m) from where stunning mountains' view can be seen.Overnight at Guest House.

Day 04: Chisopani to Khutumsang (2470m).
From Chisopani the trail leads down to Pati Bhanjyang (1770m), a small fine village. After reaching Pati Bhanjyang, the trail leads up and downs to the village called Gul Bhanjyang (2140m). From here the trails climbs up to 2620m and then again descents along the rocky route to Khutumsang (2470m).Overnight at Guest House.

Day 05:
Khutumsang to Tharepati (3490m).
Following a ridge line the trails continues via lightly populated forest to Magen Goth from where view of Langtang and Gosaikund peak is stunning and finally reaching to Tharepati (3490m). The trails to Gosaikund branches off north - west from here.Overnight at Guest House.

Day 06: Tharepati to Tarke Gyang (2620m).
Turning east, the trails rapidly descends down a ravine through small Sherpa village of Malemchigaon (2530m) with nice lodges and fine old and artistic Gompas.

The trail again descends leaving the village and crossing Malenchi Khola by a bridge at 1890m and making the long climb up the other side of the valley to Tarke Gyang at 2620m, which is the largest village in Helambu. Overnight at Guest House.

Day 07: Tarke Ghyang to Sermathang (2620m).
The trails gently descends through a beautiful forest to Sermathang (2620m). It is the centre of an important apple growing area from where nice view of the Himalayas and is seen. Overnight at Guest House.

Day 08: Explore local culture... Overnight at Guest House.

Day 09: Sermathang to Malemchi Pul Bazar (846m) and drive back to Kathmandu.
As we leave Sermathang the trails then continues to descent to Dubhochaur at 1500m and then again steeply down to Malemchi Pul Bazar (830m) where we find our van / bus waiting for us.Overnight at hotel. B.B.

Day 10: Transfer to Airport for your onward Journey. Farewell!

HET has just launched a new program in the remote area behind the Himalaya named Tsum Valley, which is a fragile land of heaven of Buddhist culture and deep beauty & silence of nature.   No scarify of living beings, and countless stupas/Chorten , peace and happy people, landscapes and Charming Himalayas of Ganesh Himala are the major attraction of this valley. Probably this is only the valley where any one smells of untouched nature.   
TAAN signs deal on TIMS

An agreement on TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) was signed between NTB and TAAN. According to the agreement ( which will come into effect from April 1) a charge of per head will be levied for trekkers booking through agencies and with VAT per head for independent trekkers. The amount collected thus will be used for the welfare of tourism sector workers, exploration of new trekking trails and for funding the infrastructure development on trail routes.This will also control illegal trekking operations and ensure the safety and security of the trekkers through the mechanism of Prompt Information Service (PIS) . Individual trekkers will be given green TIMS cards while trekkers going through companies will be given blue cards.Prachanda Man Shrestha, CEO of NTB and Bachchu Narayan Shrestha, first vice-president of TAAN signed the agreement on 18th March.
